Head of Collections at St Paul’s Cathedral @

Simon Carter is Head of Collections at St Paul’s Cathedral where he is responsible for strategy and policy concerning the interpretation; conservation, documentation and development of the cathedral historic collections. The Collections include: 3,500 objects, an historic library of 13,500 books and manuscripts and an Archive of around 14,000 items. He has previously worked at the Victoria & Albert Museum, London where he contributed to the delivery of the Medieval & Renaissance Galleries which showcase European art and culture from 300-1600 AD; he was Assistant Keeper of Fine and Decorative Arts at The Higgins Art Gallery, Bedford working with nineteenth and twentieth-century prints, drawings and paintings and, prior to that, worked for York Museum Service researching and documenting collections items in the social history museum, archaeological museum and art gallery.
