Director of the Centre of Studies of Liébana, Cantabria @
Pilar Bahamonde is the director of the Centre of Studies of Liébana since 2008, an institution belonging to the Regional Education, Culture and Sport Society (SRECD) of the Government of Cantabria, and has vast experience in all tasks connected with cultural tourism in rural areas. She is specifically dedicated to the preservation and promotion of tangible and intangible religious heritage, focusing on Pilgrimage as a symbiosis between them; raising awareness of its value from a cultural and identity approach.
She is an educated philologist as well as museologist and holds a master degree in this field. She collaborates, as a lecturer, with several Universities and institutions in Spain and Europe. She is author of two books, one of them related to the significance of a Jubilee Year, and a vast number of articles.
Since 2011 she is also director of the Museum Torre del Infantado and develops activities for local and regional stakeholders as well as visitors.
With a career in Journalism and Regional Culture, as partner in Caminni ‘ Europa, Leonardo ALTERheritage project and EUROPETOUR, ERASMUS + project, she developed her skills in European cooperation. She is member of Real Sociedad Menendez Pelayo, European Journalists Association, a full right member of the European Platform “Future for Religious Heritage” (FRH) since 2012 and member of the Council since 2016,
