Paulo Alexandre Homem Oliveira Fonseca, is the Mayor of Ourém since 2009.

Graduated in Accounting and Business Administration in Coimbra, he assumed the position of Adjunct of the Civil Governor of the District of Santarém, a position he held from 1996 until 1999, being later on elected as Civil Governor in 2005.

Between 1999 and 2001 he assumed the position of Parliamentary deputy and was once again elected in 2005. As Civil Governor, he was distinguished with several awards for his commitment and dynamization of district and national projects.

During his life, he has worked in favour of multiple social activities, becoming president of several social associations.

He represents the municipality in several board administration such as the Hospitality School of Fátima, Turismo do Centro, CIMT – Comunidade Intermunicipal do Médio Tejo; ANMP – Nacional Association of Portuguese Municiplaities ; CEPAE – Heritage Centre of Extremadura; APMCH – Portuguese Association of Municipalities with historical centre.
